It’s the time of year when drinks and nibbles are happening nearly every night of the week.
I loved the interior of Bar Opus. Nestled at the bottom of One Snow Hill, it’s ultra modern with a large bar on one side of the room and an open kitchen on the opposite side. It was quiet, but it was early week, and there was still a good atmosphere.
We started off with some drinks, and a quick look at the cocktail menu left me struggling to choose. As it’s nearly Christmas I went for the fizz, and had a Pear Bellini with Prosecco. It was light and refreshing, the pear puree brought out the pear and apple notes in the Prosecco which was lovely.
Not long after we ordered a selection of their bar snacks to share. We enjoyed Welsh Rarebit, blue cheese and bacon arancini, cured meats & cheese, tomato and mozarella croquettes, mini burgers, mini hotdogs and crispy squid with aioli.
These tapas style dishes were perfect for sharing over a couple of drinks and definitely packed some flavour. The arancini were beautiful, with a crisp, deep fried breadcrumb coating and creamy risotto centre with a delicate blue cheese flavour. I also really enjoyed the cured meat selection, with parma ham, bologna sausage meat and manchego cheese, and the Welsh Rarebit was delicious, with a mustard kick to the topping. The only problem was that they were very moreish and I could have eaten loads more!
Bar Opus is a great location for after work drinks, great location within walking distance to the city centre, good atmosphere and great selection of drinks and snacks. I have a feeling it won’t be my last time here!
