Everyone has their favourite local Chinese or pizzeria, but hungryhouse are encouraging people to get out of their comfort zone this summer and try something they’ve never had before.
hungryhouse have launched their ‘Try Something New’ campaign, which gives diners 20% off when they order Thai, Korean, Malay and loads of other exotic takeaways for the first time. They’ve also created a ‘foodfindr’ tool to help you find something you’ll like.
I took their advice and decided to break out of my routine to try a Thai takeaway for the first time. I ordered a feast from The Eastern in Wylde Green, with a vegetable starter, beef rendang, jasmine rice, pad thai and Malaysian crispy chili beef.
The Eastern only offer collection, so we ordered through hungryhouse and I popped down to pick it up. The meal was ready as arrived after only a half an hour wait. The food arrived home hot and clearly cooked fresh.
The quality of the ingredients was far superior here compared to usual takeaways, the fried food was crisp and not greasy, with the Thai Golden bag, sweetcorn cakes and spring rolls all full of fresh crunchy vegetables. The tempura had gone a little soft from the journey home but wasn’t unpleasant.
The meat was tasty and fresh and the flavours were really good in the mains too. The rendang was spicy and rich with a lovely and thick coconut sauce, the jasmine rice was fluffy and sticky and the pad thai was really flavoursome. I would definitely order from The Eastern again.
So if you’re inspired to try something new, right now hungryhouse are giving out prizes including Rebel Bingo tickets, £25 hungryhouse vouchers, and even some £100 red letter day vouchers which you can use to book an adrenalin-packed day of bungee-jumping, or perhaps something more serene like a day at the spa.
What are you waiting for? Chop chop!

hungryhouse gave me a £15 voucher towards my meal at The Eastern, the rest was paid for by me and all opinions remain my own, as always.
