I love to bake at the best of times, but as Christmas approaches my kitchen is near constantly enveloped with the smell of cakes baking as I work my way through an array of festive recipes.
I’m also a clumsy oaf, so when Proud & Co got in touch to offer me one of their new, ergonomically designed oven gloves to try out, it was an instant yes!
The Silhouette oven glove features an attractive bird on branch print in black, blue and white.
As well as being attractive, the glove is heat resistant (obviously) but also has a non-slip grip and is machine washable at 30 degrees.
What’s most unique though is the thumb position.
The glove is designed to provide a more ergonomic grip, meaning its easier to hold on to hot trays and tins when getting them out of the oven.
Unlike some other oven gloves, the non slip grip part of the glove is all one surface, without any stitching in between the thumb and the finger part that can allow heat to get through, so you’re much less likely to burn yourself.
The thumb part does feel a little unnatural at first, but it does make picking up hot things much easier, even awkward shaped things like a loaf of bread.
I did manage to get mine dirty after just one use, but it is machine washable, so hopefully it will fare better than my fabric oven glove which I managed to shrink after just one wash!
It’s been a great help to me while baking my multiple Christmas cakes, and would make a great stocking filler at just £8.99 from Amazon.
My Proud & Co Silhouette oven glove was sent to me for free by Proud & Co directly, many thanks to Justin. All opinions remain my own, as always, and I was under no obligation to write a positive review.
