Japan is as famous for its Cherry Blossom as it is for its Whisky. ‘Hanami’ (or blossom viewing) is a beloved cultural pastime in Japan, where friends and family get together to enjoy the fleeting beauty of the changing landscape. Whether or not it involves drinking whisky, I don’t know, but Birmingham Whisky Club have taken inspiration from Cherry Blossom season and teamed up with award-winning Japanese whisky brand Nikka for a special event this month.
For a lighthearted look at Japanese culture, Nikka and The Birmingham Whisky Club are hosting a ‘taste-along’ screening of Godzilla at The Electric Cinema (the UK’s oldest working cinema) on Thursday 27th April. Guests will enjoy a tasting through four of the brands delicious products presented at key moments during the film itself.
Birmingham Whisky Club owner Amy Seton said:
“After working with Nikka Whisky on our ‘Under The Cherry Blossom Tree’ event last year, we’re thrilled to have the brand back in the city… We hope that we can share the wonderful story of these amazing whiskies with new audiences and old fans alike.”
I’ve been to a few Birmingham Whisky Club events and they never fail to impress. I’ve learnt something new, tried something new, and found something I liked every time. I’m a big fan of Japanese whisky (you may have noticed from my last Birmingham Whisky Club post) and this kind of fun, taste-along event is what makes them so unique and interesting.
Tickets for the taste-along Godzilla screening start from £25 and an be booked online.
