Foodies Festival 2017

We’re well and truly into festival season at the moment. The cut off shorts are on, the sun cream is always within arms reach, and cocktails in the beer garden/roof terrace/balcony/park/paddling pool are high on everyone’s agenda! With this weekend’s weather set to be a scorcher, head down to Foodies Festival in Cannon Hill Park this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There’s a street food avenue serving up dishes from all over the world out of campervans, horseboxes and tents; an artisan producers market with an array of Great Taste Award winning exhibitors selling everything from chorizo and cheese to brownies; a full timetable of workshops and masterclasses on summer cocktails, craft beer and food pairings, psychedelic pavlovas and even cupcakes; as well as top local chefs James Wong, Nathan Eades, Brad Carter and Richard Turner cooking in the Chefs Theatre.

You’ll also get the chance to see Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown and Junior Bake Off winner Amari Koryang on Sunday, sharing their tips and whipping up some of their favourite bakes in the Cakes and Desserts Theatre.

You can even bring your own best bakes to enter the Foodies Bake Off with a chance to win a Kitchenaid Mini, or enjoy afternoon tea in the Vintage Tea Room.

New this year, there’ll also be a Healthy Living Zone, with daily yoga classes from YogaHaven, nutrition experts and Vegan Bake Off winner Katy Beskow showing off that vegan baking can be just as indulgent and delicious.

If you’re feeling brave, there’ll be a bug eating challenge and an opportunity to learn how to cook with bugs at the Vietnamese Street Food Stand.

There’s even going to be a Mexican inspired Tequila Town with Jose Cuervo, where Mexibros will be serving up smoked pulled pork tacos, chicken fajita skewers with a Jose Cuervo tequila glaze and tasty nachos, all sourced using fresh and local ingredients. There’ll also be a Tequila Truck Bar where you can grab an ice cold cocktail, and sessions with tips on how to make the perfect Margarita and how to pair food and tequila.

I think it’s safe to say there’s a packed schedule, with something every foodie can get excited about, but if you needed any more convincing, you can get 2 for 1 tickets plus goody bags, when you enter code FOODIES241 when you buy your tickets online.
